Is TherapyBro a substitute for therapy?
No. TherapyBro is an emotional support companion app, not therapy. If you need clinical treatment (diagnosis, medication), consult a licensed healthcare provider.
How is my chat history stored?
Chat history is encrypted and stored for 12 months. After 12 months, it's auto-deleted (or archived if you request). Crisis flags are kept forever for safety/legal reasons.
Can I get a refund for a listener session?
No. Sessions are non-refundable once completed. You can rate the session and provide feedback; TherapyBro support will review disputes.
How do I cancel my subscription?
Go to Settings > Manage Subscription > Cancel. It's one-tap, instant, no questions asked. You'll get a confirmation email.
Can I withdraw my wallet balance?
Yes. Go to Profile > Wallet > Withdraw. Funds go to your registered bank account in 1–2 business days. Minimum ₹100.
What happens if I share suicidal thoughts?
TherapyBro will immediately show a crisis modal with emergency hotlines (108, Tele-MANAS 14416). You'll be encouraged to call. If you're in a listener session, they'll stay with you while supporting escalation.
Is my chat data used to train AI?
Only if you allow it. By default, anonymized chat data may be used. You can opt-out anytime in Settings > Privacy > 'Don't use my data for AI training'.
Can I download my data?
Yes. Email support@therapy-bro.com with 'Data Export Request'. We'll provide your chat history, account data, mood logs in JSON format within 7 days.
How are listeners vetted?
All listeners go through: ID verification, HEXACO psychometric screening, scenario-based assessment, mandatory training, and ongoing performance review. Professional listeners have Master's degrees verified.
Can I report a listener?
Yes. In your session or listener profile, tap 'Report User'. Include details. TherapyBro safety team investigates within 24 hours. Substantiated misconduct results in suspension/termination.
For listeners
What's the minimum rate I can earn?
Peer listeners: ₹10.80/min. Professional listeners: ₹14/min. Rates may adjust based on demand.
How quickly do I get paid?
Weekly (every Monday). Earnings from the previous week are deposited to your registered bank account via UPI.
What if a user gives me a bad rating?
One bad rating doesn't matter. Your profile shows average rating. If your average drops below 2.5, TherapyBro will contact you for feedback/coaching.
What if a user chargebacks my earnings?
If a user disputes the payment via their bank, your earnings are reversed. You have no recourse (payment provider's decision). This is rare but possible.
Can I have another job while being a listener?
Yes! You're a contractor. You can work anywhere else, any hours. TherapyBro has no exclusivity clause.
What if I need to take a break?
Mark yourself Offline. No sessions will come your way. You can re-activate anytime.
What training do I need?
Peer listeners: 5 hours (6 modules). Professional listeners: 3 hours (skip Active Listening module). All must pass quizzes (≥80%) and agree to code of conduct.
What if a user is in crisis?
Immediately recognize the signals (suicidal intent, self-harm, psychosis). Encourage them to call 108 or Tele-MANAS 14416. Stay present emotionally. Do NOT end the session. Do NOT try to de-escalate medically.
Can I communicate with users outside the app?
No. All communication must be in-app only. Sharing phone numbers, WhatsApp, etc., violates the code of conduct and results in immediate suspension.
Do I need insurance?
Not mandatory, but highly recommended. Professional liability insurance (₹1,500–5,000/year) protects you. You arrange and pay for it yourself.
What if I'm accused of misconduct?
TherapyBro will investigate. You have 7 days to respond to allegations. If substantiated, you're suspended (24–48 hrs) or terminated. You can appeal.
