These guidelines explain what's expected of everyone on TherapyBro — users and Listener Bros alike — and what happens when those expectations aren't met. They work alongside our Terms of Service and Listener Agreement, not instead of them.
1. The spirit of this space
TherapyBro exists so people have someone in their corner — a companion who's present, and real listeners who care. That only works if everyone using it, on both sides of a conversation, treats it with the same respect they'd want back. These guidelines exist to protect that, for users and Listener Bros alike.
2. Rules for everyone (users and Listener Bros)
2.1 Respect and conduct
- Be respectful. Disagreement, venting, and difficult emotions are welcome — cruelty, harassment, and threats are not.
- No sexual, romantic, or otherwise inappropriate content directed at a Listener Bro, a user, or an AI companion.
- No hate speech, discriminatory language, or content that targets someone's identity.
- No threats of harm, to yourself, to another person, or to TherapyBro staff or Listener Bros.
2.2 Staying on-platform
Do not exchange personal contact information (phone numbers, email addresses, social media handles, or any other way to reach someone outside the app) with a Listener Bro or another user, and do not ask someone to move the conversation off TherapyBro.
This rule exists for a specific reason: it's how we keep both sides of a conversation safe. Once contact moves off-platform, we can no longer help if something goes wrong, and neither can you.
What happens if this rule is broken: both accounts involved — user and Listener Bro — are suspended, regardless of who initiated the exchange. A Listener Bro also forfeits any earnings from the session(s) in which the violation occurred. Repeated violations can result in permanent removal from the platform. See Section 6 for how suspensions and appeals work.
2.3 Using the platform honestly
- Don't attempt to hack, reverse-engineer, scrape, or exploit the app.
- Don't use TherapyBro to solicit illegal activity.
- Don't misrepresent who you are (fake identity, impersonating someone else, or a Listener Bro misrepresenting their background).
3. Additional rules for users
- Treat Listener Bros the way you'd want to be treated — they are real people, giving you their time and attention.
- Sexual harassment or vulgar language directed at a Listener Bro will not be tolerated. See Section 5 for how this is handled during a live conversation.
- TherapyBro, Adam, and Eve are not a substitute for professional or emergency care. If you're in crisis, please see the Crisis Support section of our Terms of Service.
4. Additional rules for Listener Bros
Listener Bros are held to everything in Section 2, plus the standards in your Listener Agreement, including:
- maintaining user confidentiality — never sharing what a user tells you outside the platform;
- completing crisis-escalation training before accepting sessions, and following it when a user shows signs of risk;
- accepting session requests without discriminating against users on any personal characteristic;
- representing your background and qualifications honestly on your profile.
Full detail on suspension, appeals, and earnings consequences specific to Listener Bros is in your Listener Agreement — this document doesn't repeat all of it, but the two are meant to be read together.
5. Harassment during a live conversation — how it's handled
If a Listener Bro experiences harassment or vulgar language from a user during a session, here's what happens in the moment:
- The Listener Bro is shown a simple prompt: is this message vulgar or harassing? They can flag it in one tap.
- On a first flag, the user receives a warning that continued behaviour will end the chat and may affect their account.
- On a further flag in the same or a later conversation, the Listener Bro can end the chat immediately, and the user's account is suspended.
A note on what counts: a user disclosing something difficult or personal about their own life — even something uncomfortable to hear — is not harassment, and should not be flagged as such. This rule is about conduct directed at the Listener Bro, not about the emotional weight of what a user is going through.
If you believe a flag or suspension was a mistake: email support@therapy-bro.com. We review every appeal — see Section 6.
6. Suspensions, bans, and appeals
Consequences scale with what happened:
- First-time, lower-severity violations (e.g., a first harassment flag) typically result in a warning.
- More serious or repeated violations result in a temporary suspension.
- Contact-information exchange, severe harassment, or repeated suspensions result in permanent removal.
Appeals: if you believe any action taken against your account was a mistake, email support@therapy-bro.com. We aim to review and respond within 7 days. During an appeal, your account typically remains in its suspended state unless we determine otherwise.
7. Changes to these Guidelines
We may update these Guidelines as the platform grows. Material changes will be reflected here with an updated version date, and significant changes may also be announced in-app.
